Adherents of Pro and Anti Cross Teachings ...Take Note

often in posts, i see ones referring to "the cross" or the jws view of an "upright stake" in posts on this and other sites.

a few years ago i saw "prince the rock entertainer" draw attention in a concert to "a lie told over and over" and then a cross appeared in a large picture behind him on stage demonstrating his epiphany through studying with the jws, about the instrument of death actually being an upright stake...to cite just one example.. all researchers and biblical enthusiasts should take note of the work accomplished by gunnar samuelsson and his team.

the publication was released in 2011 entitled crucifixion in antiquity and examines all scholarly works previously done on the subject as well as exaustive research by a team of people looking for facts and archeology to support one view or the other.

As an ex-jw it was a surprise and reassuring to see that yet again, so many things portrayed to us as the indesputable truth, was actually a matter of popular opinion or doctrinal bias, etc...but in reality unknowable.

I hear ya. Subjects like this illustrate to me just how much the WT during the days of Rutherford and onward would make a stink over anything for the pettiest of reasons. That same mentality is present within JWs today. Arguing over whether Jesus was impaled with or without a cross-beam is like debating whether the wood used was timber or cedar. I can understand the WT's argument against religious paraphernalia and idolatry regarding crosses, but to argue over a cross-beam is just retarded. By making such an issue over the cross-beam, their points about idolatry and paraphernalia gets lost as a result.

He makes more per episode than I make in 6 years and has the nerve to complain. I understand where he's coming from to an extent as I struggle personally trying to do this Christian thing all the while my entertainment and views don't necessarily jibe with Christ's teachings and example. Still, this show likely won't be around much longer anyway, right? Aren't the ratings sluggish on this show? If so it won't be long before it's a wrap regardless. Kid needs to do his time quietly, and then move on. His stock in Hollywood would be strong enough that he can find work in a lane that more aptly suits his newly found religious views. Something else that bothers me about his actions is that the show isn't all about him. Plenty of people are able to eat and provide for themselves because of that show. If I was making a living from that show behind the scenes and he's attempting to sabotage it, I'd have a personal problem with him at that point.

On another note, I like the thought in the other thread about it'd being better for him to be an Adventist than how so many other child actors and actresses ended up. He'd be better off a JW, Adventist anyday, than some dope addict tabloid story generator.

if you are a christian and you know that december 25th is not jesus' birthday, and may have pagan roots, then why celebrate it?

i was raised a dub as most of you know, and have learned the ttatt so i know how wrong they are about a lot.

I wasnt allowed to doubt when I was a kid, or even as a teenager. Pretty much extorted by birthright, such is the life of a born-in. Nowadays not only do I doubt, I also on days with some belief left in me hold animosity towards whomever is out there invisibly, if such a being or beings exist. They're guilty of extreme negligence if they do exist.

My advice is blow Friday off anyway, the less people there, the more the GB will consider dropping it for good.

In their twisted little minds, it wouldn't surprise me if they felt it would be a good idea to bring back the seven day conventions.

Good one. It's not like you can openly investigate the answers to that question especially if you're a born-in. You go tell your Service Group Overseer that you're curious about the Adventist's teaching and want to attend a few of their meetings and see how long until they're reading your name off the platform during the midweek meeting.
